STF has exposed a big network supplying banned meat from Delhi to Gulf countries and South Africa. After arresting Janakraj Sharma of Delhi, who was sending banned meat from Delhi to Chennai and Hyderabad in his vehicles, from Lucknow three days ago, STF on Wednesday arrested Laiq, brother of the mastermind of this network, Atiq Ahmed, from Jalaun. Originally, a reward of Rs 50,000 was announced for the arrest of Laik, a resident of Bijnor.

A container full of banned meat was recovered in Jalaun in December last year, which provided clues about the syndicate supplying it to Gulf countries. ADG Law and Order and STF Amitabh Yash handed over the investigation of this case to ASP STF Dinesh Singh, after which the vehicle owner Janakraj Sharma was arrested from Lucknow on 21 April. After getting information about Laik during his interrogation, STF sub-inspector Amit Kumar Tiwari arrested him from Jalaun.

Laik, who lives in Jagatpuri East area of Delhi, told during interrogation that the banned meat found in the container caught in Jalaun on December 20 was being sent to Chennai after making bilti in the name of sea food. It was going to Shamen Logistics Limited of Hyderabad. He told that he has been doing meat business for about 13 years. His father also used to do this work. Later, he started doing this work from Delhi along with his brother Atiq and son Zubair. Before the year 2019, his brother Atiq Ahmed had a slaughter house in Sahaspur, Bijnor. The annual turnover of his company Al Zubair Food is around Rs 20-22 crore.

Used to get it from West Bengal, Bihar

He told that he procures banned meat from West Bengal and Bihar and stores it at Showman Logistics Limited in Hyderabad. His brother Naeem’s son Wamis has a firm in Dinajpur, West Bengal, which is supervised by his younger brother Atiq. One train of goods leaves from there every 7-10 days. Beef is taken from the local slaughter house, processed (deboned), packed and sent to Chennai via Forbesganj, Gopalganj, (Bihar) Kushinagar, Basti, Faizabad, Kanpur Dehat, Kalpi. From Chennai it is sent to Gulf countries and South Africa. Similarly, meat consignments are also sent from Hyderabad and Delhi. Atiq Ahmed does the work of sending it. Gulzar, Yusuf and son Zubair also do the same work. Zubair has Shamiana restaurant in Okhla.
